POTTS LAW FIRM SEEKS JUSTICE FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE SURVIVORS
This past November, Rachael Sanders was found murdered in her apartment near Springfield, Missouri. Shane Leon Mackey, whom she was in a relationship with, has been charged with her murder. Mr. Mackey had been arrested seven times between 2002-2013 for domestic violence.
Unfortunately, Ms. Sanders’ case is not isolated. In the United States alone, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by a domestic partner. This equates to more than 10 million men and women annually.
Sadly, Rachael Sanders’ son Seth, a member of the U.S. Air Force, learned of his mother’s death the day before his 21st birthday.
In line with the Potts Law Firm’s mission to speak for victims, our firm is representing Seth and has filed a wrongful death petition on his behalf. Ms. Sanders not only lost her life due a violent and intentional act but her family was directly impacted emotionally and financially by her death.
Our hope is that victims of domestic violence receive help long before the abuse results in death. If you or someone you know is a victim, start by calling the National Domestic Violence Hotline. It is a 24-hour confidential service for survivors, victims, and those affected by domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and relationship abuse. The Hotline advocates are available at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) and through online chatting at www.TheHotline.org. All calls are free and confidential.
