The U.S. government’s liability in flooding lawsuits related to Hurricane Harvey could be determined in less than a year after more than a half dozen Houston firms were named to a pair of cases, according to a Nov. 20 federal court order.
The firms were named to represent plaintiffs in separate upstream and downstream cases in the U.S. Court of Claims after multiple lawsuits were consolidated. The lawsuits were filed around September in response to flooding and water releases that allegedly inundated thousands of Houston homes and businesses.
