A SMALL PLANE CRASHED INTO A HANGAR AT ADDISON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, RESULTING IN TEN DEATHS. THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT IS NOT YET CLEAR.
The flight headed to St. Petersburg, Florida came down soon after lifting off the runway on Sunday morning in Addison, Texas, outside Dallas. Of the ten people on board the Beechcraft Super King Air 350, none survived. Officials have not released the names of the deceased.
The aircraft was carrying eight passengers and two crew members when it went down suddenly. According to Addison fire spokesman Edward Martelle, as cited in The Dallas Morning News, the twin-engine plane had just taken off when it veered left, dropped its left wing, and crashed into the hangar. Flames destroyed the aircraft upon impact. The hangar affected was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
Officials are looking into the possibility of engine failure as well as gathering information on the flight crew, weather, condition of the plane, and other relevant factors. No one has reached a conclusion on the cause of the accident yet.
The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the incident.
