On April 16, 2018 Group Rossignol issued recall number 18-139 for the 2017-2018 model year LOOK Pivot Ski Bindings due to fall hazards associated with the product. According to the recall report, the heel piece on the ski binding can become loose during use, which allows the boots to detach from the skis.
Loosened ski bindings are serious fall hazards for skiers and can cause injury or death. Owners of the recalled LOOK ski bindings are encouraged to immediately stop use and contact LOOK to schedule a free inspection and replacement of the defective product.
Approximately 6,900 recalled units were sold between September 2017 and November 2017 at specialty ski stores around the United States including REI, Retail Concepts and Vail Resorts, Christy Sports, Backcountry.com, and Evo.com. In addition, 590 unites were also sold in Canada. Recalled Look Pivot Ski Bindings were sold in white, yellow and black and retailed between $375 and $475. The ski bindings were manufactured by Look Fixations S.A.S., of France, and were imported and distributed by Group Rossignol USA Inc., of Park City, Utah.
What to LOOK for:
Recalled LOOK units include date codes of H7, I7 or J7, without the letter ‘V” stamped behind the turntable heel unit. LOOK is written on the front of the binding and Pivot is written on the side of the heel piece.
