CHRYSLER RECALLS 12,700 VEHICLES FOR DEFECTIVE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULES
According to carcomplaints.com, Chrysler plans to recall more than 12,700 vehicles containing defective powertrain control modules by the end of next month.

Engineers found that a voltage regulator chip can fail in the powertrain control module circuit board, preventing a vehicle from starting and potentially causing a vehicle to stall while driving. The recall has affected 16 models, including Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles.

Recalled for Defective Powertrain Control Modules:

  • 2018 Jeep Renegade
  • 2018 Jeep Compass
  • 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • 2018 Ram 1500
  • 2018 Ram ProMaster
  • 2018 Fiat 500x
  • 2018 Dodge Journey
  • 2018 Dodge Challenger
  • 2018 Dodge Charger
  • 2018 Dodge Durango
  • 2018 Chrysler 300
  • 2017-2018 Jeep Wrangler
  • 2017-2018 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • 2017-2018 Chrysler Town and Country
  • 2018-2019 Jeep Cherokee

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was first alerted about the power control module issues in an email which reported module failures in Latin America. After FCA discovered two North American vehicles stalled due to module failure, they opened an investigation.

As of this month, FCA says at least 29 vehicles have stalled while driving due to the defective product, and 151 vehicles have had their powertrain control modules replaced. As of now, FCA is not aware of any injuries or crashes related to the module failures.
