WOMAN CHARGED WITH INTOXICATION ASSAULT AFTER CRITICALLY INJURING VICTIM IN CRASH ON I-45 IN HOUSTON, TEXAS

On June 2, 2018, witnesses reported seeing a woman driving the wrong direction on Interstate 45 in Houston, Texas. The driver was headed northbound on the southbound side of the highway at around 2:30 a.m. when she ran into another vehicle head-on, causing a three-vehicle wreck.

The Houston Police Department identified the woman as 28-year-old Nicole Bertoldi. Ms. Bertoldi admitted to authorities that she had been drinking before the three-car crash which took place near the West Dallas exit. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident, a 67-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the third vehicle was reportedly unharmed. Bertoldi was also injured during the accident and is currently seeking treatment at Ben Taub hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have charged Nicole Bertoldi with intoxication assault.
