Man Dies After 18-Wheeler Driver Runs Stop Sign

On June 28, 2018, a truck driver disregarded a stop sign, causing a three-vehicle collision just outside of Millersview, Texas which resulted in a man’s death. The Peterbilt truck tractor driver, identified as 48-year-old Luis Vega-Reyes from Miami, Florida, ran a stop sign on FM 765 at the intersection for U.S. 83 in Concho County. The truck driver first collided with a southbound 2005 Freightliner in the middle of U.S. 83, pushing the 18-wheeler into the northbound lane. Following the collision, the driver and sole occupant of a 2018 Chrysler van hit the Freightliner head-on. Concho County officials pronounced the Chrysler driver, 66-year-old Michael L. Vandervoort, dead at the scene.
