THE POTTS LAW FIRM NEW LITIGATION: ESSURE PERMANENT BIRTH CONTROL IMPLANT BY BAYER PHARMACEUTICALS
Since Bayer Pharmaceuticals’ first non-surgical permanent birth control implant, Essure, hit the market in 2002, there has been heated controversy concerning the safety issues of the product. Earlier this year, the FDA announced women must be given an “in-depth checklist” to ensure they are able to make an informed decision regarding the risks of the implant.
The FDA has received thousands of complaints from women who have been injured from Essure. In September 2017, Bayer announced the halt of Essure sales in all countries outside the United States. In July 2018, Bayer announced it would no longer sell Essure in the United States after December 31, 2018.
