LAWSUIT AMIDST COVID-19 PANDEMIC FILED IN DENVER
A class-action lawsuit amidst the Covid-19 pandemic was filed in Denver federal court due to a family’s vacation being compromised by Colorado Ski areas that closed its doors during the wake of the Coronavirus Pandemic. This lawsuit is seeking compensation from Vail Resorts for money that was not refunded.
An out-of-town skier named Dylan Clarke had planned a vacation with his family in the week of March 16. Some of his family members planned to ski using the Epic Pass, which is a pre-paid card.
A full payment would allow it’s users unlimited skiing for the entire season. The card was valid from October 15 – April 15. Vail Resorts announced its week-long closure on March 14th due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The governor of Colorado passed an executive order that same night, asking all of the ski resorts in the state to follow suit. Just three days later operators said the resort would close for the remainder of the current season. This lawsuit claims the total loss of funds by skiers to be in excess of $5 million.
