She then went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the Baylor University School of Law, where she developed her advocacy skills in one of the top 3 ranked advocacy programs in the nation and was welcomed into the Order of the Barristers after demonstrating her oral advocacy skills in Moot Court. She immediately put her advocacy skills to good use and began her career as a Plaintiff's attorney representing victims of medical malpractice and medical negligence in hospital and nursing home settings—a challenging field in light of the restrictive medical malpractice damage caps in Texas. After four years in medical malpractice, Melanie expanded her legal expertise to include a broader range of personal injury cases, including car wrecks and trucking accidents.

She then transitioned to working on the Defense side for a few years and worked primarily on first party insurance disputes, with a focus on homeowners insurance disputes. After gaining valuable experience litigating across both sides of the aisle, Melanie is glad to return to the Plaintiffs' side and is excited to be back advocating for injured persons.

In her free time, Melanie is an avid reader and enjoys exploring Houston's amazing restaurant scene, as well as cheering on the Houston Astros!
