It also selects candidates from 147 different practice areas and has a worldwide reach with publications in 70 countries around the world. This year’s edition features 65,000 attorneys and will have a readership of over 17 million people. It is considered an extremely reliable indicator of which attorneys in each practice area and geographic region are truly the best in their field.
Best Lawyers Features a Rigorous Selection Methodology
The Best Lawyers in America 2021 edition features the characteristic rigorous selection methodology the publication has become known for. Selection is based on peer-reviewed voting by prominent attorneys all over the US. This year’s edition is based on more than 8 million highly detailed evaluations from attorneys all over the country.
After an open nomination period, ballots were then distributed based on geographic areas to the evaluating attorneys in those regions. Evaluating attorneys were asked how likely they were, on a scale of 1-5, to recommend each given candidate to clients. They were also asked to include relevant comments and additional details. After the results were tallied, Best Lawyers also carefully verified that every winner was in good standing with his or her state bar.
